
Polish ambassador to Kenya Jacek Bażański has expressed intention to work with all the county governments to support development.
Speaking on Friday in Makueni County where he was hosted by the County Governor Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, Jaceck said his country is ready to partner with county governments by supporting specific programs meant to benefit their people economically when need be.
“We want a concrete relationship with your county in various sectors including the housing sector among others,” stated Mr Bażański said in Wote Town moments before Governor Kivutha officially opened the Makueni Agricultural and Trade Affair show the second edition.
The Ambassador praised Makueni County for supporting fruit farming by setting up a local fruit processing industry and said since Poland is a major producer of fruits, the country could work well with the County to develop the local fruit processing industry in Kalamba.
“Poland is a major fruits producer. We have lots of apples but unfortunately we don’t do mangoes,” he said.
The County Boss Prof Kibwana said that his Government is willing to work with Poland in any partnership that will benefit the people of Makueni especially deals that can empower the youth.
“We are in the process of establishing our own version of a youth service to be known as Makueni County Youth Service which will be run by young people themselves so as to create a hub for opportunities for young people in the county,” said Kibwana.
In support with Poland’s intention to partner with all the counties also is nominated senator Silvia Kasanga recommending that counties that have shown high standards of integrity and accountability in managing public funds be accorded direct sponsor attention.
Makueni MP Daniel Maanzo who was also present at the event expressed his support for the Poland Government to work with Makueni County.
“This is a good relationship and we will support any form of cooperation meant to spur economic development in our county,” he said.
