Kitui County: 3 schools ( Muthale Girls, St Charles Lwanga, St Angela’s)

Machakos County: 2 schools (Alim High, Machakos boys)
Schools in ukambani region posted a fair in 2017 KCSE. Though no candidate from a school in entire Ukambani region featured in the top 100 candidates, general performance placed some of our schools somewhere.
However, 6 schools from the region made it in top 100 positions.
St Charles Lwanga in Kitui was at position 55 in Kenya with a mean of 58.0, Alim high school in Machakos was at position 59 with a mean of 57.7, Machakos boys came third at position 68 with a mean of 56.4, Precious blood kilungu Makueni was 4th with a mean of 56.48. Muthale girls came 5th in Ukambani and 84th in the country with a mean of 55.28. St Angela girls kitui was at position 100 in the country and 6th in Ukambani with a mean score of 54.12.
Overally for the entire country, the performance was at a decline with a fewer candidates – 70,073 set to join public university compared to 88,929 in 2016. The number of grade A- reduced from 4645 in 2016 to 2714 in 2017.
