Mbooni Boys High School handball team is set, for the first time to fly Makueni flag high during this year’s Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association games in Arusha, Tanzania.
The team beat Mang’u High School to emerge second after Kimilili Boys at the national level. Kimilili and Mbooni will represent Kenya in the forthcoming games set to kick off on 14th this month.
Makueni County governor Kivutha Kibwana, while flagging the team off on Friday, congratulated them for the achievement and wished them well in the forthcoming championship games.
Kibwana further asked the boys to excel not only in co-curricular activities but also in the academic field.
The team’s coach Juma Ochieng expressed his gratitude for the county’s support and promised a great win during the competition.
The County sports director Ambrose Kisoi said that Makueni is in the process of establishing virtual talent centers in the wards in collaboration with schools in a bid to promote talent among the young people.
“We have a talent academy at Ngakaa. However, we know it cannot serve the whole county sufficiently. We are working towards having virtual talent centers in all our wards so that we reach out to most of our youth in talent promotion,” Kisoi said.
