Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu today expressed dissatisfaction over leaders in Ukambani who she says were misleading Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on the 2022 Uhuru succession.

The Governor said the leaders should instead be rallying residents to register in large numbers to increase the region’s political bargaining power.

“We should be telling him (Kalonzo) that we are registering our people as voters to attain a targetted number of votes, then move to court other communities to support our own to be President” Ngilu said.

The Governor also warned Kalonzo over politicians who cling to his name to ascend to positions leaving him in the political cold.

“I won’t speak as those who are after their own political gains, those who lie to you that you will be President then they get elected and leave you out” She said.

Ngilu also said fund allocations by the national government to counties highly depend on the population of the counties among other factors – calling on residents to register through acquistion of national IDs for fair consideration.

Governor Ngilu was speaking in Makueni during the funeral of the late Francis Maliti Mwewa, husband to Grace Mwewa, a former nominated Member of Parliament.
